This exclusive resort, located on Marbella’s Golden Mile, was born from the transformation of the historic Swedish Forestry Center, originally built in the 1970s. The complex brings together a Michelin-starred restaurant, bungalows, and apartments, all set within expansive gardens that elevate the guest experience.
True to its name, Boho Club was envisioned as an exclusive retreat with a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. The owners wanted the gardens to become a defining feature, and for this reason our design team embraced a xerophytic approach wherever possible. Lush lawns were combined with strong, sculptural species alongside lighter, ephemeral plants—creating a dynamic yet harmonious contrast.
Organic solutions and natural materials were incorporated throughout the project, including weathered steel plates purposefully treated to achieve a rich oxidized finish. In the same material, we designed bespoke sculptures to guide visitors as they move through the different spaces of the resort.
As a curious anecdote: once the project was complete, the planting areas were covered with ochre-colored gravel mulch. However, one of the partners mentioned it reminded him of his cat’s litter tray—so the mulch was eventually replaced with smooth river pebbles in soft grey tones, adding a more refined aesthetic.
