In the iconic Sierra Blanca estate in Marbella— on one of the most exclusive streets in Spain—stands this traditional Andalusian-style residence with its signature tiled roof, where the striking contrast of the white façade and black-framed carpentry defines its architectural essence.
The goal for Adarve Jardines was to design a garden that would embody elegance while remaining functional and family oriented.
Throughout the garden, the design embraced a white flowering palette, led by Iceberg roses that, in the gentle Mediterranean climate, bloom almost year-round. As a base, a beige gravel mulch was chosen to bring brightness and clarity, complemented by a variety of green tones in different shades.
Once we enter the property, a symmetrical visual axis connects the main entrance with the far end of the garden, passing through the house via expansive, black-framed windows. At the entrance, we have an elegant fountain framed by a black planter filled with myrtles to welcome visitors. On either side, there are three Ligustrum japonicum reinforcing the sense of symmetry and balance. Surrounding the planting beds, which have also been finished in black, were filled with alyssum, selected for its delicate bloom and enveloping fragrance.
From the main terrace, the space opens to the pool area, highlighted by four majestic, centuries-old olive trees set in black planters, creating a sculptural and timeless frame.
To the right—and always in view from the terrace—a charming playhouse was designed for the owners’ daughters, complete with a sandpit and swings. This children’s area extends to the lower level of the garden via a slide that leads into a pedagogical vegetable garden, conceived as a place of learning and joy in direct contact with nature.
